I have a thing for harlequin floors. My dining room and front porch are both painted this way. The history, I was told, is that alchemists used it to symbolize the combining of ordinary objects to make extraordinary things, just as they experimented by combining ordinary metals to attempt to make gold. It was also used on the costumes of court jesters as a symbol of good luck. Works for me. Enjoy, Heidi Image courtesy of John Jacob Zwiegelaar.
