My BFF Janet's House.

I have a treat for you all. My BFF (best friend forever) Janet let me shoot her home and some of her wonderful collections. One of my favorite things that Janet does is use jewelry in her decorating. She also has the whole monochromagic thing going on. She is extremely clever and is capable of turning a pigs ear into a silk purse. Enjoy and Thanks Janet, Heidi

Here she used an amazing rhinestone broach to hide the nail that is holding up this fab platter. I love this this idea a lot.

Another one of my favorite things that she has done is to glue wood carved birds from an old cuckoo clock onto another fabulous platter.

When you here me talk about "Monochromagic" this is what I am talking about. Everything is either black, white, cream, brown, tan, silver, gold, grey. I Love It!!!

Here are some up close shots. As you can see Janet loves birds, I do to.

This is Janet"s original idea of using an aluminum vintage hair clip, upside down to hold photos. Clever girl that Janet.

Here we have her butler's pantry, love it. She shared with me, when she was a newly wed and the funds just weren't there she only bought things at garage sales that were white, black, cream, wood, silver, brass, etc....(monochromagic) and it just all worked together. Then it was easy to decorate for the holidays too and it never went out of style. I love to use red plaid with this look at Christmas time, it looks great.

We love old books, woven basket bottles and bamboo.

This is a wonderful basket that looks like a nest with 2 birds and their eggs. Love baskets and nests, eggs and old worn silver.

Janet collects grapes and aluminum ware. We both collect garden antiques like flower frogs.

Here we have another piece of jewelry, a clip on stirling silver pine cone earring, clipped on the handle of an aluminum trey she has displayed on the wall in her kitchen.
Candelabras, birdcages and domes. In this little dome she has an old child's tea set pitcher that was the only thing found after her Grandmother's house burned down. I love displaying treasures with domes. Click here to see Matthew Mead's Dome.

This is her bedroom and it is so pretty with her collection of vintage mirrors and other items she cherishes displayed like art. The piece of furniture below it is her vanity that I convinced her to buy at the last antique show we had. It is a spinet piano without the piano parts inside, so she has all of her makeup and hot rollers inside of it out of sight and then flips the lid up and open to get ready. She had a small hole made in the back of it for the cord of her hot rollers to stay plugged in at all times, all she has to do is turn them on and not fuss with cords everyday.

This is an interesting collection, it is wax fruit. It looks so real. I love hunting with Janet because she has a good eye and collects great things. We have lots of fun together and make decorating fun and challenging by creating something so great with not a lot of money.
