Steampunk.

It all started when somewhere on the web, I found this image of a computer keyboard, but it looked as if it was built 100 years ago. I told my sexy, computer geek husband that "I want that, find it for me." He did find it and I was amazed at all the other technology that had been created to look as if it was from the Victorian Era. This my friends is called "Steam Punk."
Check out The Steampunk Workshop to see how all the great finds were created. Enjoy, Heidi

Living Rooms.

I am seeing a pattern when it comes to living rooms I love, they are all classic, grand, bland and have no pattern what so ever. This is my style, it lasts, it is timeless. This is also how I dress, usually in a crisp white shirt and my favorite jeans or linen pants. The sparkle and pattern is all in the accessories, they are easier to change out for a different look. I tend to tire of a look quickly so I stick to the classics and cycle in and out the accessories. Enjoy, Heidi

Always remodel your Kitchen first.

I am psyching myself up to do our kitchen remodel. This is the part where you rip everything out of the room and you either eat out every night or cook something in the microwave. This is when another room in your home gets stuffed full of kitchen appliances and boxes of dishes and you wash your dirty dishes in the bathtub. Like I said I am psyching myself up for this. These images are my inspiration pics for my kitchen so I will just keep my eye on the prize and get it over with. Enjoy, Heidi

The Four Agreements.

I had a realization last night that I had evolved into someone completely different than I was 10 or so years ago. A deeper, more compassionate and enlightened woman. This has happened through a combination of hard times and reading great books like, The Four Agreements for personal growth. I have lived by these positive, common sense rules in this book as well as having a close relationship with God. I thought that I would share them with you. The following text on this post is courtesy of The Four Agreements. Enjoy, Heidi
1. Be Impeccable with your Word
Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

Harlequin Love.

I have a thing for harlequin floors. My dining room and front porch are both painted this way. The history, I was told, is that alchemists used it to symbolize the combining of ordinary objects to make extraordinary things, just as they experimented by combining ordinary metals to attempt to make gold. It was also used on the costumes of court jesters as a symbol of good luck. Works for me. Enjoy, Heidi Image courtesy of John Jacob Zwiegelaar.

Outdoor Living.

These pictures are all courtesy or Southern Living and they are all taken from one woman's garden. I do believe if this was my garden I would be having parties all the time and you all would be invited. Enjoy, Heidi
